Now/Then/When

The Northern Forest Heritage Park, Tri County CAP, Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire will sponsor two events at the Heritage Park, 961 Main St. Berlin, NH this summer. From August 24th-September 8th 2007 the art exhibition Now/Then/When will be featured inside the park. The opening concert, LogJam will take place on the weekend of August 24th-25.

The art exhibit will feature artwork that relates to Berlin's connection to the paper industry and works that deal with the current state of change in the city, along with the present-day issues Berlin faces. The purpose of the show is to reflect on this moment of change, to exhibit older artwork inspired by the mill and more contemporary work inspired by its closure and the effects of that closure on the city.

All of the artists featured in the show will be current or former Berlin-area residents. Rachelle Beaudoin, a digital media artist and former Berlin resident who studied at Rhode Island School of Design, will curate the exhibition. Submissions will be juried by a panel of local artists including Roland Simard and Andre Belanger. Artists often have a unique way of interpreting situations and this exhibition will give local artists the ability to share their vision, response, and reaction to the closing of the paper mill and the changes the city of Berlin is currently undergoing.

Please read the open call.

LogJam is a multi-generational concert event that will take place at the amphitheater of the Northern Forest Heritage Park and will include performances by local musicians and former Berlin residents. Shawn Marquis, a Boston-based musician who grew up in Berlin, is coordinating this event.

LogJam and Now/Then/When are free and open to the public.

Now/Then/When and LogJam are partially funded by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
